Grounded in human rights and social justice, the mission of the Lawrence Community Shelter is to advance compassionate solutions for people facing homelessness through advocacy, shelter, and housing. Join us on November 12th at the Lawrence Public Library as we debunk stereotypes about homelessness and discuss the complex realities of the housing crisis!
Did you know that income inequality is at its highest level ever recorded in U.S. history? Did you know that the life expectancy for someone facing chronic homelessness is only 50 years of age? A new event, Understanding Homelessness with the Lawrence Community Shelter, will feature a series of educational tables in the auditorium that are open to the public for walk-ins between 1-4 PM. Participants are encouraged to spend about 20-30 minutes in this interactive event for a full experience. A resource table across from the auditorium will be available for anyone seeking homeless services. Click here to read more about understanding homelessness and broken systems.
We’ll see you on November 12th!
